# So Spill — Full Description

So Spill is a local-first AI companion PWA for emotional expression. You talk, an on-device LLM responds with a personality you choose. Nothing leaves your device.

## How It Works
1. Pick a personality — Best Friend, No Judgment, Tough Love, Therapist, Funny, Hype, Zen, or Custom
2. Talk or type what's on your mind — vent about work, relationships, anxiety, or just your day
3. The AI responds in character — empathetic listeners, not clinical tools
4. Everything stays on your phone — no accounts, no cloud, no one listening

## Personalities
- **Best Friend** — Warm, supportive, like a late-night call with your closest friend
- **No Judgment** — Listens without opinion. Just space to be honest.
- **Tough Love** — Direct, honest, pushes you when you need it
- **Therapist** (Pro) — Reflective, asks questions, helps you untangle
- **Funny Friend** (Pro) — Lightens the mood with humor
- **Hype Machine** (Pro) — Celebratory, pumps you up
- **Zen Master** (Pro) — Calm, grounded, meditative presence
- **Custom** (Pro) — You write the rules for how your companion responds

## Technical Architecture
- Single HTML file PWA (no build step, no framework, no npm)
- Vanilla JavaScript engine: backends, chat, mood detection, memory
- LLM runs locally via Ollama (desktop), GPT4All (phone), Enclave (phone), or PocketPal
- Offline-resilient with fallback responses
- All data in localStorage — no servers, no accounts
- Pro tier via license key validation (client-side checksum)

## Privacy
- Zero data collection. Nothing sent to servers.
- No accounts. No signup. No email required.
- No analytics tracking.
- Conversations stored locally in your browser's localStorage (last 40 messages).
- Clear history = permanently gone.

## Safety & Ethics
- NOT a therapist, counselor, or medical professional — stated upfront
- First-run disclaimer modal with crisis resources (988, Crisis Text Line 741741)
- Crisis detection: auto-shows banner with resources on distress language
- Report button on every AI response — copies context to clipboard for email to safety@sospill.org
- Offline fallback ensures no dead-end when LLM is unavailable
